Frontpage picture viewer software suggestion

This is not a forum suggestion but a suggestion for the gallery.

I've been looking at some "Albums" and when I press next or previous I find it really annoying that every picture has to change first before I can see the whole overview. It looks cool but it's a bit slow. Is it possible to speed that up? A slideshow would also be very handy for those big "albums"

Just some suggestions that might make your gallery better.

Yes I know the existing Paintballphotography.com interface is some what awkward and we are in the middle of a complete site and forum redesign. I am aware of several problems but I do not want to spend much time working on the existing site only to have it replaced by our new site and forum.

There have been some delays but we are working to solve the problems we have encountered. Our main problem is displaying the huge numbers of photos we have in each of our galleries. I did not want to reduce the number of photos because of this no “off the shelf??? software will work so we have to custom develop it which has been more difficult and taken longer than expected.

I was just checking the Boston pics and was getting tired of clicking next the whole time. And out of the blue an idea just popped into my head.

Why not have a option to download all the pictures from an event to your own computer for a few bucks? The pictures would obviously not be in full reso but something like 1024x???.

But what about the pageviews for the advertisers? There's still going to be alot of people who are not willing to pay for the pictures so the pageviews won't drop drasticly.

So why would anyone pay for the pictures if you can see them on the site for free?
1. With the pics on your own computer you can use it as a slideshow screensaver.
2. View everything in a slideshow fullscreen without having to press next a trillion times.
3. You can view the pictures faster.
4. Being able to view them on the road on your very own portable device (iPod)

What would be a reasonable price for something like this? One4One.tv charges about $6,- ~ $8,- for a video so $3,- ~ $5,- sounds about right I think.

Just something to think about. Don't kill me if it's a stupid idea :P
